About me

I am a fourth-year graduate student in the Computational and Systems Biology (CSB) Program at MIT.  Since 2010, I've worked with Jeff Gore in the Department of Physics (supported by an NDSEG Fellowship).  I recently completed a study on the evolution of cooperation in spatially expanding populations (linked here).  In Martin Polz's group, I am now using a mixture of theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches to analyze the community ecology of ocean microbes.

In May 2010, I completed B.S. degrees in bioengineering and chemical biology at the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!).  During my time there, I worked with Adam Arkin and David Schaffer on some early studies of combination RNAi-based therapeutics for HIV.  Before moving to California, I lived in West Lafayette, Indiana (home of the Purdue Boilermakers, Axl Rose, and Snowbear Frozen Custard).  That makes me a native Hoosier.  According to Wikipedia, it's not clear what that means.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis and squash, running, reading (mostly fiction), and hanging out with Nathan Cermak.
